Dolphin-like highlights jump on wavy waters
We ration our bait like time spent with our loved ones
The worm wrapped on the hook sinks deep underneath
We hope for the best, the Earth patiently spins...

The fish stumbles slowly in dark murky waters
Its wide open mouth marked by past close encounters
It heads to the surface to glisten a last time
It swallows the shadow on its way to the sunlight

The pull – as intense as the will for survival
The surrender – inevitable, the struggle – futile
Your hand – firmly grasped by that of your father
As he lends you the strength to fend for another

Something always must die for something else to live and
the earth always takes back what the water has given..
