Passing Places

Passing places, sacred sites
From another lifetime
Scenes of love, loss, ash, revival
It all means so little to me now
Almost like it never happened
Like a dream dead on arrival

Time has mended all my scars
But I don't remember how I got them
Like I've learnt nothing from the past
Other than I never want it to repeat

Days feel like memories mirrored
Cycled times over in my mind
Though with each loop they get more faded
And merge to yield weeks, months, and years

Passing places, setting sights
Where should I go from here?
For what once was is mine no more
But like rain returns to oceans
It will one day all come back to me
Like a long-forgotten dream

Legs are for walking slowly Except when you’ve got to run Lips are for kissing loved ones Except when sealed with sin Hands are for holding on tight Even when they're trembling Hairs are for waving in winds Even when graying and thin Your face is for catching sunlight When you’re breathing in.. - vktr

Girl on the Bus

The girl on the bus walks in in slow motion A sway in her hips with each bump in the road She looks for somewhere to sit, away from the heat You patiently wait for your reflections to meet The girl on the bus dresses only in white She’s lost in her thoughts with eyelids half-closed She looks through the window, the world gazes right back Making sure that her day is moving on track Because the girl on the bus has places to be And more fortunate people than you to meet And though she won’t hear it you whisper “goodbye” And forget all about her until the next time For your journey is long and the stations are plenty And the girl from the bus is out there somewhere patiently waiting.. - vktr

Dearest Friend

How wonderful it is to have a friend To illuminate your darkest hours With kind words spoken softly Or anecdotes in jest A brief warm touch A smile without context To let you know you matter Beyond the confines of yourself A friend that sees more in you Than you can ever find within They quickly learn your flaws But favour all your virtues To reveal what you only wish you could be If you were half the person that entails So, my dearest friend, know that I cherish you For lifting me in flight And though our time will surely pass As the wind scatters us across at night I’ll forever keep you in my heart And search for you among the stars... - vktr
